=How do I delete a User in MailWall?=

Users can only be deleted once any email addresses associated with them have been removed first. Users must be deleted at a domain level while email addresses are removed at a user level

Prior to deleting a user, please review the following caveats regarding the procedure:

Users can not be undeleted. When a user is deleted all settings associated with the user are irrecoverably lost.

When a domain is configured to use hosted mailboxes, deleting a user will permanently delete any associated mailboxes and disable any existing access to inbound or outbound email collection and delivery methods.

When a domains is configured to use a closed SMTP feed, deleting a user may cause emails to be rejected for any associated email addresses. The solution to this problem is to move the email addresses to another account prior to deleting the user.

Deleting users may have undesirable and unpredictable effects on a domain with Active Directory synchronisation enabled. It is not recommended to delete users from such accounts but render them inactive by changing their permissions.

The master user (normally the username ending in 01) can not be deleted.

If any of these caveats is applicable to you, please consult with a MailWall professional prior to continuing with the delete procedure.

To delete a user follow these steps:

1.Select the username to be deleted

2.Choose Remove from the Mail Manager section

3.Select an email address to remove and click Delete

4.Repeat step 3 for any remaining email addresses

5.Select the domain name level view

6.Select Remove

7.Select the user to be deleted

8.Click Delete

You have now successfully deleted the user.
If MailWall has been configured to deliver email via SMTP feed to a local email server then you will need to configure the MailWall users on the local server also.

For example, if you have a user called mailwallcom03 on the domain mailwall.com who requires an email report, you will need to have you local server accept the email address mailwallcom03@mailwall.com

This procedure is necessary because MailWall delivers Spam Quarantine emails to users as opposed to specific email addresses.
1.Select the mailbox which is to gain an email address

2.Select MailManager -> Add

3.Enter the new email address

4.Click Add

You have now attached a new email address to the mailbox and that mailbox will now receive email for that address.
Once your order is provisioned the new domain name will appear on your MailWall dashboard ready for configuring.

You will also be issued with a username and password specific to the new domain name. This password can be changed via the dashboard by a user with reseller permissions.

=How do I change a User's password?=

MailWall allows for the password of a User to be changed.

New passwords are selected from a pre-computed list of securely generated pronounceable passwords comprising of mixed case alphanumeric values. It is not possible to assign a free form (user entered) password from within the MailWall dashboard.

Prior to changing a user's password, please review the following caveats regarding the procedure:

If hosted mailboxes (POP3 mailboxes) is enabled for the domain, then the user's POP3/IMAP4/SMTP and Webmail password will also be changed to the new value.

The password for the master user of a domain name (normally the username ending in 01) can only be changed by a user with Reseller Admin permissions

If any of these caveats is applicable to you, please consult with a MailWall professional prior to continuing with the password change procedure.

To change the password for a user follow these steps:

1.Select the username to have the password changed

2.Choose Password from the Mail Manager section

3.Select a new password from the list then click Change

The new password will take effect within 5 minutes.

=How do I create a MailWall User?=

Users must be created at a domain level.

Prior to creating a user, please review the following caveats regarding the procedure:

Creating users may have undesirable and unpredictable effects on a domain with Active Directory synchronisation enabled. It is not recommended to manually create users from such accounts but create them within your directory structure first then assign them any appropriate permissions once they appear on MailWall after the synchronisation.

If any of these caveats is applicable to you, please consult with a MailWall professional prior to continuing with the create procedure.

To create a user, please follow these steps:

4.Choose an email address to associate with the user (Note)

5.Click Add

Note. All users require a default email address regardless of how the account delivery options are configured.
The new user name and password will be displayed on the screen.

=How do I import an Address Book into a Whitelist?=

Email mail addresses that are regularly used in correspondence should be added to the domain or users whitelist.

Instead of having to manually add these addresses one by one to a whitelist, MailWall can import an existing address book from a desktop email client directly into a whitelist.

This option is accessed by going to Spam Settings -> Import Address Book on the MailWall dashboard.

Importing an address book

Email mail addresses that are regularly used in correspondence should be added to the domain or users whitelist.

Instead of having to manually add these addresses one by one to a whitelist, MailWall can import an existing address book from a desktop email client directly into a whitelist.

This option is accessed by going to Spam Settings -> Import Address Book on the MailWall dashboard.
Importing an address book

=How do I customise Spam Filtering?=

Spam settings can be customised on a global (domain wide) or per user basis. For global settings, click the domain name in the top navigation bar first and for per-user settings select the user from the drop-down in the top navigation bar.

* Customising Filtering
Spam filtering is customised via the Spam Settings -> Filter, Black and Whitelists section of the MailWall dashboard.

* Filter Strength
Determines how strict the filter will be. The bar can be slid from 0 - 100 with 100 being maximum strength.

By default the filter strength is set to 50.

Increasing the strength of the filter may result in misclassification of good emails as Spam.

* How to deal with Spam?
Determines what MailWall does once an email is suspected of being Spam.

The settings are:

Mark as Spam (change subject line)
The subject line is modified to include “Possible Spam” and the email is delivered.

Move to Spam quarantine
The email is moved to MailWall Spam quarantine, Spam Quarantine settings are determined in the section “Reporting/ Spam Reporting”.

Do not scan for Spam
MailWall does not scan for Spam and all email is delivered (Note. all email is still scanned and processed at a pre-acceptance level for Spam and to prevent DDoS attacks).

After selecting the required setting then click “Save Spam Settings” to make your changes permanent.
