What is the difference between a .ie and a .com domain name?

A .ie domain name is an Irish domain name, while a .com domain name is an international domain name. Both can be accessed from anywhere in the world in the same amount of time. Anyone can register any available .com domain name. However, .ie domain names are soley intended for Irish businesses or companies doing businesses in Ireland.
